Deanna Bruno Barber passed away peacefully on April 11, 2021 at the age of 62. Beloved wife of 32 years to Rodger Barber Sr. Loving mother of Frances Buckman, Rodger Barber Jr., Kathryn “Katie” Olavarrieta and Ryan Olavarrieta (Randi). Grandmother of Tracie, Alyssa, Kohen, and Kaden Jude. Sister of Lisa Tramuta. Daugher of the late Gregory Bruno and Marie Biamonte Bruno. Also survived by many loving relatives and friends.
Deanna graduated from Sacred Heart High School and earned her certifications as a Surgical Technician from William Carey College. She worked as a Surgical Technician at Southern Baptist Hospital/Ochsner Baptist for 42 years and later in her career, transitioned to Surgical Scheduling Coordinator. Deanna’s Baptist family was one that was near and dear to her heart, she was a very proud Baptist employee and extremely proud of the career she had built there.
Although Deanna was a dedicated technician who took her job seriously, she was most known for her silly antics. Her fun- loving, prankster personality was known throughout the hospital and among the staff. One would never know what was to come out of Deanna’s mouth… a mouth you could hear from a mile away! Her love for fun was punctuated by her love, care and compassion for others. Deanna was so much more than average, she was extraordinary! To her family and dear friends Deanna was first and foremost so proud to be a mother and grandmother. Deanna often bragged about her children and grandchildren; they were her most treasured gifts in life. Once you met Deanna, you had a friend for life. She was dedicated to her friends, in fact she had numerous friends whom she had known for over 40 years. In addition to Deanna being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend she was also a devoted dog mom too! Her dog, Heart, was her best pal and was truly her “heart”. It is said that you find your purpose in life when you give your whole heart and soul into everything you do, Deanna Bruno Barber did exactly that. Although Deanna’s passing is sorrowful for the people who knew and loved her, she was the greatest gift in life to all who had the pleasure of knowing this beautiful soul.
