Jose E. Amaro

Jose E. Amaro passed away peacefully on October 26, 2017 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Ynette T. Carabeo Amaro . They were both looking forward to celebrating 60 years of marriage in December. Father of Mercy Hodge and Emily Bergeron (Joey). Grandfather of Alana, Jonathan, Gabi and Isabelle. Brother of Cesar “Pipo” Amaro (Jean). Son of the late Cesar Amaro and Eloisa Zervigon Amaro. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
Jose was a native of Guines, Cuba and resided in Gretna, LA and Destin, FL. He graduated from the University of Havana, worked as a chemical engineer and served as President of National Fruit Flavor Co. One of his most cherished accomplishments in life was building his dream beach home in Destin, Florida and watching his kids and grandkids grow up and enjoy the beach.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 11 AM to 1 PM. A Memorial Mass will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association ( www.heart.org ).
