Joseph Edward Lee of Ville Platte, La., passed away Feb., 13, 2023. He was 89 years young at heart. He believed in the Lord and his peace and love. He would say, Jesus is the center.
Joseph, fondly known as Ed, was born to Leo Lee and Elaine Lee Dec., 17, 1933 in Ville Platte. Ed was a graduate of Vidrine High School.
In his younger years, Ed enlisted in the Navy and completed many courses including Introduction to aircraft in 1953. He served during the Korean War. He later was stationed on the U.S.S. Whitehurst DE 634 and his last rank before being honorably discharged from the service was GMM3, Gunners Mate (missles) 3rd class.
After military life, Ed moved to New Orleans and worked for Hunt Oil Company, and he completed and received his diploma as an electronic technician from Advance Schools. Inc.
After raising his own family, Ed moved back to his hometown of Ville Platte and took care of his mother.
Ed is survived by his three children, Angella (Bobby), Kirk (Sharon) and Malcolm. His sister, Juanita Israel, and four grandchildren Knox, Daniel, David, Michael, and many nieces and nephews also survive him.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, three siblings, and one grandchild, Theogene Lee, Paul Lee, Dorothy Buller, and Jonathan Jamieson.
Ed loved to make others smile and enjoyed visits from family and friends. He often came up with funny sayings and catch phrases to make others laugh. Ed was able to spend a lot of time with his youngest grandson Knox, and those two were “peas in a pod” when together.
Beloved father to his daughter Angella who would say that Daddy can light up a room with his smile.
Ed and his daughter were in his own words, “on a long journey together” in the ups and downs of his health and the joys of the times of overcoming it, together they grew in their bond together.
Those who know him and some who just met him would speak of his smile, kindness and humor.
Daddy, you will forever be missed and never forgotten. I will keep our promises we spoke of in your last days on this earth and most importantly, I love you forever and ever!
Visitation will be held at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 11am to 1:30pm. A Funeral Mass will follow. Graveside services will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum in Ville Platte, LA on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 1pm.
