On December 25, 2022 Louis Santiago entered into eternal rest peacefully at his home, alongside his loving wife Diane LaCava Santiago of 36 years whom he adored. A marriage to be admired full of love, devotion and respect. Louis, often called “Louie” lived for his family. He was a hero in the eyes of his daughters and a true example to his sons.
Father of Teresa Santiago, Larry Bienvenu, Jr. (Jenny), Glenn Bienvenu (Rhonda), Angel Parfait, and Kimberly Moya (Daniel). Grandfather of Ashley, Larry III, Rodney, Dylan, Glenn Jr., Wade, Brandi, Brad, Macie, Madalyn, Giovanni, and Giulianna. Son of the late Illuminado Santiago and Petra Nieves Santiago. Brother of Doris, Illuminado Jr., Betty, Evelyn, and Edie. Also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Age 68 years, a native of New Orleans, LA, resident of Chicago, IL in his twenties, a longtime resident of Marrero, LA, and recently Sumrall, MS. Louie was a hardworking man of strong character. He began his career in the maritime industry at a very early age which later led to his retirement as a Chief Engineer with Florida Marine. He was proud of his position, dedicated to his profession and highly respected by his peers. In his spare time you could find him singing his heart out and strumming his guitar. A talented musician who would captivate all who heard him perform. Whether it was in front of a huge audience or family gatherings, Louie enjoyed sharing his love of music. Filled with humor, kindness and care, Louie will be dearly missed by all.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 1 PM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA to follow. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until service time.
