Merlin C. Schexnayder, Jr.

Merlin C. Schexnayder, Jr. of Terrytown, LA, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2022. Husband of the late Bonnie Van Hees Schexnayder. Father of Kelli Barrois (Dale), Kris Babin (Darrin), and Rachel Schexnayder. Grandfather of Chelsea, and Zachary Barrois (Jennifer), Sarah Babin Driggers (Jay), Andrew Padilla, and Grace Babin. Great-grandfather of Ayden, Aubry, and England Barrois. Son of the late Merlin C. Schexnayder, Sr. and Rosalie Favaloro Schexnayder and step-son to the late Clara McDonald Schexnayder. Beloved companion of Helen Babin.

A lifelong resident of Gretna and Terrytown, LA and former employee of The First National Bank of Jefferson Parish and Jefferson Savings and Loan Association. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1960. Merlin was a member of the Gretna Sportsman’s Club, the Gretna Historical Society, and a former member of the Terrytown Lion’s Club, and the Krewes of Grela and Ulysses.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services in the Chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 11am. Interment Hook and Ladder Cemetery in Gretna. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6pm to 10pm, resuming Thursday from 9am to 11am.
