Richard "Dick" Lawrence Ranson, Sr.

Richard "Dick" Lawrence Ranson, Sr. passed away while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. He was born September 5, 1926 to the late Louise Thiele Ranson and Edwin Rene Ranson, Sr. Husband of 19 years to Doris Carrio Ranson by third marriage, the late Betty Kabel Ranson by second marriage and Patricia Walsh Ranson by first marriage. Father of Rick Ranson Jr. (Debra), Patricia Ranson, Michael Ranson (Patrice), Margaret Jolly (Kent), Jeanne Barrios (Wade) and Larry Ranson (Kendrah). Brother of Rodney, Albert (Marilyn), the late Edwin, Louis and Wesley. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
He graduated from St. Stanislaus High School (Bay St. Louis, MS) in 1943 and later retired from the Louisiana National Guard as a CWO-4 after 38 years of dedicated service to his country. He was a devout Christian, a wonderful father and friend to many. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by family and friends. He will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 9 AM to 11 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment St. Louis Cemetery No. 3 in New Orleans.
