Robert Joseph Acosta III passed away peacefully on December 10, 2022, at the age of 98. Beloved husband of the late Marie Cecile Oubre Acosta. Loving father of Juanita Kinler (late Leonard), Gwen Paternostro (Vincent/Rocky), Darrell Acosta (Desiree). Grandfather of Kimberly Breaux (Troy), Michelle Ryals (Jay), Nicole Caulfield (Jules), Ceili Colletti (Justin), Darrell Acosta (Kellie), and Lindsay Bumber (Edward). Great Grandfather of Brittany Guidroz (Ryan), Brennon Breaux (Mallory), Jay Ryals Jr. (Hollie), Dillan Ryals (Shelby), Destin Ryals (Alex), Kaileigh Kinler, Korynne Caulfield, Koby Caulfield, Myles Acosta, Ethan Colletti, Finley Colletti, Dylan Bumber, and Ava Bumber. Great-great Grandfather of Zoe Guidroz, Kinsley Breaux, Hunter Ryals and Chloe Ryals.
Son of the late Robert Acosta Jr. and Monique Bourgeois Acosta of Vacherie.
Grandfather of the late Jordan Acosta, Tracy Acosta and Christopher Acosta.
Predeceased by Elsie Chiasson.
Bob lived in Vacherie, Louisiana before moving to Marrero 75 years ago.
Bob patriotically served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked for Celotex then Jefferson Parish for 30 years.
Bob was a Charter Life Member of of both VFW Post 7307 and the Nicholson Golden Age Club where he served his community.
He loved gardening and participating in sports events, particularly shuffleboard and darts, well into his 90s.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Immaculate Conception Church, 4401 7th Street, Marrero, Louisiana on Tuesday December 20, 2022 from 9am to 11am with a funeral Mass to follow. Interment Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, LA.
