Warren Luke Lejeune

March 13, 1934 — December 17, 2020

Warren Luke LeJeune died on December 17 after a brief illness. He was 86 years old. Warren was preceded in death by his parents Lucille and Walter J. LeJeune and his loving wife of 63 years Janice P. LeJeune. Warren was born in Des Allemands, La and grew up in Port Sulphur, La in a close knit family with his three brothers. As a young man, Warren participated in many sports and loved hunting and fishing. He graduated Port Sulphur High School and attended LSU. Warren married in 1955 and in 1957 moved his young family to Grand Isle to work for Exxon. He made lasting and lifelong friends there. Work relocated Warren to Morgan City, then New Orleans in 1966. By that time his family had grown to six children. He lived in Algiers for 26 years. After 35 years, he retired from Exxon and moved to Belle Chasse, La. A lifelong outdoorsman, Warren was a “master fisherman,” avid golfer, and amateur bird watcher. He could often be seen, even in recent years, fishing the bayous behind Port Sulphur and the boat launch. He might also be seen playing blackjack and slots at the local casino. Warren loved a lively discussion, crossword puzzles, and classic movies and TV shows—especially Perry Mason. Warren leaves quite a legacy. His children were his pride and joy: Gary(Cindy) LeJeune, Lisa (David) Rogers, Marcelle(Steve) Ladd, Carl(Jamey) LeJeune, Leah(Darron) Goodgion, Gina(Mark) Marsden; 17 grandchildren: Michael, Emily, Daniel, Adam, Carl, Robert, Stephen, Claire, Logan, Victoria, Cullen, Hannah, Sophie, Lisa, Thomas, Anna and Camille; and 10 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Emma, Aubrey, Caroline, Liam, Luke, Nora, Colton, Blakely, and Andrew Edward. He is survived by his beloved brothers: Donald(Frances) LeJeune, Walter(Lois) LeJeune, and Lee(Marsha) LeJeune and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. In his retirement, Warren renewed his love of dogs revealing his softer side. He was preceded in death by Tigger, Daisy, Millie, and Roux and survived by his devoted Ellie who was his constant companion since Janice passed away in 2018. Warren’s family is deeply grateful for the love and care shown to him by his wonderful neighbors especially Gwen and Allen Landry and Gail and Steve Naquin. Thank you also to Passages Hospice of New Orleans who allowed us to grant Dad’s wish to die at home. Special thanks to Dr. Carol and Mr. Ray Duplechain for their boundless acts of kindness. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 2PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery, Highway 23, Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
