William "Billy" U. Kirkland

William ‘Billy’ U. Kirkland entered into eternal rest on March 12, 2020 at the age of 81. He was born on October 18, 1938 in Birmingham, AL. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Stagni Kirkland; three sons, James (Gabrielle), Glen (Angelic), Gregory (Juliet), and the late Jeffrey who preceded him in death. He was the proud grandfather of Rosemarie (Zachary), James, Jr (Rachel), William (Shannon), Christopher (Alyssa), Alexandra, Ashley (Adrian), Alyssa, Jeffrey, Kyle, Matthew and Amy; and six great grandchildren – Cameron, Isabella, Bailie, Baylen, Olivia, and the late Chloe. He is also survived by a sister Virginia Hayes (Steve) and brothers, Ronald (Margie), Donald (Beverly), Frank (Barbara); the late James and Duey.
Billy spent most of his career working for the Kansas City Southern Railroad. Once he retired, he enjoyed playing golf every chance he got. He also devoted much of his free time working and volunteering for his church, First Baptist of Marrero. He cherished his time spent with family, and loved being a grandfather; his grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy.
