The family lived in Covington, where her father was a butcher, until the mid-1920s, when they moved to Burgundy Street in the ninth ward of New Orleans. Aimée graduated from John McDonough High School in 1931, and attended Soulé Business School in New Orleans. She worked for the Community Chest, and later for the U.S. Engineers, where she met her husband, Cleveland Manuel Duvic, whom she married in 1942. In 1950, Aimée and Cleve adopted their only child, Mary, through the Volunteers of America. They were married for 50 years before Cleve’s death in 1992.

Following Cleve’s death, Aimée continued to reside in New Orleans. In 2006, after Hurricane Katrina, she moved to Lebanon, New Hampshire to be closer to her daughter, Mary, and her family.
