Albert (Jerry) Jerome Gerrets was a loving “special” soul. He was born in Algiers, LA to Charles and Shirley (Holden) Gerrets. He is survived by his two sisters; Patricia (Patty) Hebert and Nellie Gerrets and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, as three generations of the family felt like they grew up with him. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Shirly Holden Gerrets and Charles Gerrets, and siblings; Charlene (Donald) Hanson, Michael (Judy/Cyleria) Gerrets, Francis (Debbie/Judy) Gerrets, Debbie (Dean) Wellman, He spent half of his life in Algiers, before he and his mother moved to Wynhoven Apts in Marrero, where he resided until her death. He lived with siblings in Gretna, following his mother’s death. He was an avid Spiderman fan and considered everyone a friend. His big smile and joyful spirit will be missed. In his last year of Jerry’s life, he required a great deal of assistance and personal care, special thanks to Nellie Gerrets, Bridget Berry, Chester Berry III., Alexis Cavanaugh and Alissa Berry for their assistance and support in caring for Jerry. The family would love to recognize Dynall Duplessis with Able Life for her assistance with Jerry.
