Alecia Marie Augusta Creppel Davenport, age 74, a native of Lafitte and resident of Marrero, Louisiana peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her family on the evening of Thursday, June 10, 2021. She was born on March 23, 1947, in Lafitte, Louisiana, a daughter of the late Clarence T. and Marie A. (Bruce) Creppel.
On September 3, 1965, she married Ralph Davenport. Ralph died on September 19, 2008.
She is survived by her sister Nita Head; her children Donna Mills and her husband David Mills Sr., Ralph "Brud" Davenport, and Ken Joe Davenport and his wife Jodi Davenport; her grandchildren Jenea Hatty and her husband Justin Hatty, Vincent "Mano" Alexie III and his girlfriend Molly West, and Faith Davenport; and her great-grandchildren Jaxon Hatty and Jennifer Hatty. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Rose Mae Christen, Louise Maise, and Leona Brunet; two brothers Clarence Creppel Jr. and Adam Creppel; and grandson David "DJ" Mills Jr. Alecia was proud of her Native American heritage and enjoyed adding to her large collection of Native American figurines and decor. She also enjoyed doing a variety of crafts. She had several jobs during her lifetime. She enjoyed working at the Westwego Shrimp Lot, which she did for several years. Her favorite job was taking care of others, often putting them before herself. She spent several years caring for her special needs son and disabled husband all while battling and beating lung cancer. She loved being "MawMaw Shesha" and caring for and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be no services. A memorial will be held at a later date. Her family wishes to sincerely thank Compassus Hospice Services for the wonderful care and support given, especially nurses Daniella and Gayle.
