Alfred “Big Al” Blondiau passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of the late Frances Cooper Blondiau for 50 years. Father of Matthew Blondiau (Paige) and the late Michael Blondiau (Tanya). Son of the late Floris and Leon Blondiau. Brother of Andrew Wingfield (Judy), Eddie Blondiau (Betty), Beverly Ehlers (Wayne), Frederick Blondiau (Jeannine), and the late Leon Blondiau (Becky), Paul Blondiau (Sonja), and Loretta Francese. Grandfather of Samantha Blondiau, Hallie Blondiau, and Ava Granger. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Samaritan Social Club. He was also known as Coach Al to those he coached at the Harvey Playground. He retired after 30 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service. He was computer savy and was very active in his community, especially with Cerebral Palsy of Louisiana. He enjoyed cooking for the family, especially for Thanksgiving. He was a longtime resident of Gretna and Harvey and recently of Lafayette, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home. 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, January 7, 2022 at 1pm. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:30am until 1pm. Interment, Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale, LA.
