Alfred Smith "Pitt" Buras

Alfred Smith Buras, better known as “Pitt” by family and friends, born on September 27, 1928 and entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of 62 years to Helen Vallot Buras. Loving and devoted father of Rachele Buras Popich, Judy Buras and Ben Buras. Son of the late Cora Stockfleth Buras and Ben Roman Buras. Brother of Joyce Buras Holland and the late Estelle Buras and Bernard Buras. Grandfather of Paige Ninkovich, Joseph Popich and Lana Popich. Great Grandfather of Olivia Ninkovich. Pitt was a native of Buras, LA and a resident of Belle Chasse, LA since May of 2005. He is a past member of the Buras Volunteer Fire Department and a retiree of Gulf Oil Corp. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and loved spending time out in his yard. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation and thank you to the Staff of Notre Dame Hospice, Les Vincent and Beverly Anderson and the staff of River Bend Nursing Home for their love, kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, please consider Masses or a Charity of your choice. A visitation will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Highway 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 9AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11AM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mausoleum.
