Alphonse “A.J.” John Arnone Jr. died peacefully, in New Orleans, LA on November 13, 2023, at 79. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Jean Thomas Arnone. A.J. leaves behind his children, Patricia Bruce (Marty), Marie Arnone (Mari Ann Callais) Chris Arnone. (Jenn) Grandchildren, Katelyn Buisson (Jeremy), Carley Arnone Omar, Sam Bruce, Emily Arnone, Thomas Arnone. Great-grandchildren Brody Arnone and Zoey Buisson. He was preceded in death by his Son, Fr. John Arnone. His parents Alphonse J. Arnone, and Myrtle Falkenstein Pepitune. He leaves behind one sister Jeanne Tureaud (Mickey), and many friends and relatives.
A.J. held a longtime career with The New Orleans Fire Department retiring as a Captain, then again as a Fire Arson Investigator. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9107, Veterans Firefighters, Algiers Irish Rebels, Algiers Historical Society, a graduate of Redemptorist High School, and a longtime parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Church. We will miss his dry jokes, smile, and laughter. Friends and Family are invited to celebrate his life on Friday, November 17, 2023, in Algiers. Visitation will be from 9 am-11 am with Mass following at 11 am. Services will be at Holy Spirit Church 6201 Stratford Pl, New Orleans, LA 70131. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
