Amelia Smith Darcey passed away on November 12, 2011. She was 88 years of age and a longtime resident of Algiers, LA. Wife of the late Richard J. Darcey by second marriage and the late Sidney E. Buniff, Jr. by first marriage. Mother of Sidney Buniff, III (wife, the late Teresa), John L. Buniff and Laverne B. Wetwiski (husband, Michael). Sister of Lillian Caudle (husband, William). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Amelia worked as a representative for Avon Products and as a Cottage Parent for the Belle Chasse State School. She loved to dance, take cruises and loved being around children. She leaves behind many friends at the Belle Chasse United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 for 11 AM at Greenwood Cemetery, City Park Avenue at Canal Street in New Orleans. Donations in her memory may be made to the Belle Chasse United Methodist Church, 8375 Highway 23, Belle Chasse, LA 70037. Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
