Andy Patrick Valence, an extra-ordinary and exceptional man, died on February 28, 2014 at West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, LA. He was 78 years of age. Andy was born on March 30, 1935 in Grand Isle, LA, the son of the late Armide Santiny and Jacomine Valence. He was the father of Randy P. Valence, Kelly V. Pizani and Lynde V. Mora. Father-in-law of Karen L. Valence and Randy Pizani. Grandfather of Billy Pizani, Chaz Pizani, Dixie Pizani, Jinger Haley, Heather Haley, Sarah Valence, Victoria Valence, Gabriela Valence and Clint Penouilh. Brother of Peter Valence, the late Enola Labruyer, Eleanor Thibodeaux, Jack Jr., John, Vincent, Jerry and Steve Valence. Former husband of Rose Lefort. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Andy began his working career as a porcelain sprayer at Avondale Shipyards and moved on to salesman for the Westbank Guide. His political career began as Committeeman and then Councilman for the City of Westwego. He was later elected to the Jefferson Parish School Board and finally, Mayor of Grand Isle, LA. Upon returning to Westwego, he worked as a Greeter for Boomtown Casino and remained their until his retirement. Andy also served as a State of Louisiana appointed Notary Public and was a member of William D. White Lodge No. 408 F & AM.
Throughout his lifetime, Andy was dedicated to serving his fellow citizens of Louisiana. A kind and generous man, he was never short on a smile or a kind word. He will be sadly missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Westwego. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 PM to 10 PM, resuming on Friday from 8 AM to 11 AM.
