Anna Patel, age 66, died on Sunday, December 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Manoj Patel; children Romina Anna (Jonas) Anazagasty, Marjorie Manoj (Ryan) Labat, and Ryan Manoj (Margaux) Patel; grandchildren Isabella Victoria, Anna Sophia, and Catherine Elizabeth Anazagasty and Lila Ryan and Bridget Margaux Patel; sister Marie Wilson and brother Jimmy Nabors both of Winfield, AL. Anna was born in Birmingham, AL and was the first person in her family to attend and graduate from college, the University of Alabama. She moved to the Westbank of New Orleans in 1974 where she remained until her death. She was the embodiment of unconditional love to her children and grandchildren. She taught at Arden Cahill Academy in Gretna, LA where she touched the hearts and inspired the minds of her students for 38 years. Anna was an active member of the Preceptor Alpha Beta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi International women’s sorority since 2001. Anna served as chairman of many committees, and also served many years as an elected officer on the Executive Board of the chapter. She helped extend the hand of sorority to many, through service projects, attending conventions in LA and other states, and assisting in the hosting of LA convention through the Westbank City Council of Beta Sigma Phi. She was elected Chapter Sweetheart twice, and also Chapter Woman of the Year. Anna graced her chapter with informative programs throughout the years and her heart, energy and spirit were there in every service project the chapter undertook. Anna impacted the lives of those who knew her and also enriched their spirits with her friendship, humility, strength and humor. She was an extraordinary woman who was taken too soon. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the funeral service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 1:30 PM.
