Anthony James Cookmeyer Jr., 64, born in New Orleans, gained his wings with his loving wife Maria in his arms. Anthony / Big Tony / Pops / Dad was a humble, fun, loving man who always had a smile on his face, a beacon of hope for all of us. He was truly a fighter who taught us to never give up. He loved being with family and friends, smiling, dancing, and fishing with his long-time friend, Darrell.
He is preceded in in death by his mother, Maryann Szabray; father Anthony James Cookmeyer Sr.; and younger brothers, Michael P. Cookmeyer and Ronald Delmas Buras. He was a devoted husband to Maria Elena Ramirez and beloved father to Abraham Cookmeyer, Rebecca Thompson (Norris), Aime Creel (Bule), Brandi Perez (Ediberto), and Anthony Cookmeyer (Lachelle).
He also leaves behind his siblings, Joseph Cookmeyer (Earlene), Alice Bailey (Daniel), William Cookmeyer (the late Sherry), and Janet Cookmeyer (Brigitte); his grandchildren, Candace, Josh, Chris, Michael, Emmaly, Christian, Shawn Jr., Shane, Ian, Rebecca, Beverly, Gracie, Amelia, Olivia, Reina, Yareli, Acacia, Jaime, Matthew, Tristan, Christian, and Elijah along with 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are Josh, Chris, Michael, Christian, Shawn Jr., Shane, Matthew, and Elijah.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 9am to 11:30am. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel.
