Antoine Joseph “Tony” Doucet, born Nov. 3, 1918 in Galliano, LA and a resident of Westwego for 62 years, passed away peacefully two months shy of his 96th birthday on August 30, 2014. Beloved husband of Mildred Toups Doucet for 68 years. Loving father of Janita D. Metz (Thomas), Bonnie D. Schilling (David) and the late Elaine D. Soutullo. Grandfather of Jean Paul Keller, Dr. Tasha Metz, Benjamin and Stephanie Soutullo, Travis Schilling. Great grandfather of Dylan, Jordan, Megan, Madelyn, Claire and Kelsey. Brother of the late Lorada D. Danos, Beulah D. Kiffe, Jeanne D. Kiffe, Sweetsie, Eads, Mike, Roy, Harris and Jimmy Doucet. Son of the late Sedonia Vegas Doucet and Edville Doucet.
Mr. Doucet was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII serving in the Pacific theatre for 6 years. He was retired from LA Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries and was a member of Graham Washington Lodge #413, F&AM, New Orleans Consistory Scottish Rite 32 degree, Jerusalem Temple Shriners, the VFW and American Legion. He was a true southern gentleman and a devoted family man. Tony had a smile that would light up a room.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 10 AM until 1:30 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 PM. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. The family would like to thank Our Lady of Wisdom Heath Center for their care and support.
