His 1st job was as a chicken pluckier (which he remembered fondly!) and during his last 2 years in high school, he worked part-time at DH Holmes Department Store in the boys department. He began as a stock clerk and quickly moved into sales. Soon afterwards, he began his career at Bell South “Ma Bell” starting as a mailroom clerk. He worked his way up to installer and lastly to electronic technician. He retired after 42 years of faithful service. He loved music especially playing the piano and he played for many years, even on occasions at some New Orleans Piano Bars. He will live in the hearts and minds of many friends and will be sadly missed by his loving family. He was very thankful to his beloved nephew and best friend, Kevin for his loving care during his illness. The family extends their gratitude to his very dear and caring friends, Alan and Paula Jackson of Birmingham for their loving care. We also wish to thank Comfort Care Home and Health & Hospice of Birmingham, AL, the staff of Sunrise Senior Living of Metairie and Heart of Hospice for their care during his brief return to the New Orleans area. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his memory to Heart of Hospice in Marrero, LA, Comfort Care Hospice of Birmingham, AL or Jackson Avenue Evangelical Church.
