Anton C. Beck, Jr. was born February 26, 1938 and went to his eternal rest on April 6, 2015 at the age of 77 years. He was born in New Orleans, LA to the late Anton C. Beck, Sr. and Barbara-Ziegler Beck. He is preceded in death by his beloved twin sister, Barbara Ann Beck-Reimherr and brother-in-law, Rev. Lloyd L. Reimherr, Sr. He resided in Birmingham, AL and the past 10 years since moving there following the losses he incurred to his home during Katrina. He was the uncle to Lloyd L. Reimherr, Jr., Kevin C. Reimherr (Wife Gloria) and Karen Reimherr-Cabrera (Husband Jorge); great uncle of Matthew Treadway (Wife Nichole), Andrew and Nicholas-Reimherr (Mother Kelly Hutchinson Reimherr) and grand uncle of Ryan Treadway. He was a lifelong friend of Betty Huggett and “Pops” to Ashley, Jenna, Brandon and Logan Huggett. He was baptized and confirmed at Jackson Avenue Evangelical Church, where he attended until his early adult years. A graduate of Fortier High School class of 1956, and he attended Loyola School of Music. His 1st job was as a chicken pluckier (which he remembered fondly!) and during his last 2 years in high school, he worked part-time at DH Holmes Department Store in the boys department. He began as a stock clerk and quickly moved into sales. Soon afterwards, he began his career at Bell South “Ma Bell” starting as a mailroom clerk. He worked his way up to installer and lastly to electronic technician. He retired after 42 years of faithful service. He loved music especially playing the piano and he played for many years, even on occasions at some New Orleans Piano Bars. He will live in the hearts and minds of many friends and will be sadly missed by his loving family. He was very thankful to his beloved nephew and best friend, Kevin for his loving care during his illness. The family extends their gratitude to his very dear and caring friends, Alan and Paula Jackson of Birmingham for their loving care. We also wish to thank Comfort Care Home and Health & Hospice of Birmingham, AL, the staff of Sunrise Senior Living of Metairie and Heart of Hospice for their care during his brief return to the New Orleans area. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his memory to Heart of Hospice in Marrero, LA, Comfort Care Hospice of Birmingham, AL or Jackson Avenue Evangelical Church. Relatives, friends and retirees of Bell South are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 6PM until 8PM with a short memorial “Time of Remembrance” at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 8AM until 11AM. Funeral Services of Christian Burial will be held at the funeral home at 11AM with Rev. Paul Pic officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
