Lt. Col. Arthur John Foundas

Lieutenant Colonel Arthur J. Foundas (Ret.), age 80 entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at his residence. Beloved husband of Barbara D. Foundas. Son of the late John George Foundas and Katherine Georgacopoulos. Father of Jeffrey ( Julianna), Craig (Ellen), and Kara. Grandfather of Andrew, Sari, Steven and Nikos. Brother of Gladys, Constance, Alexandra, Nicholas and the late George Foundas. Arthur is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He served as Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. He joined the Army in January 1953 and retired in March 1973 after completing 20 years of distinguished service. He served as a Field Artillery, Air Defense Artillery, and Military Intelligence Officer during his career. During his military service, he served in 2 combat zones, Vietnam & Korea. He received numerous Defense, Army, Combat, and Foreign Awards. His fondest memories in the Army were as a U.S. Army Paratrooper/Jumpmaster while serving with the 11th and 82nd Airborne Divisions. Arthur was born in Boston, MA and was a 41 year resident of Algiers, LA. Family and Friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 9AM until 11AM. Private graveside services will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
