On Friday, July 3, 2015, Arthur Philip Jeanfreau, Jr. passed away at home, surrounded by his family. His is the son of Rosalie C. Jeanfreau and the late Arthur Philip Jeanfreau, Sr. and was raised in Gretna, LA., where he continued to be a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for his entire life. He is preceded in death by one brother, Ray Anthony Jeanfreau, and he has two sisters, Mary Lee Warner (Tom) and Jude Anne Stubbs (Patrick). His immediate family, who cherished him more than anything include his wife of almost 45 years, Shelley Jeanfreau, his daughter, Cheri Anne Jeanfreau and granddaughter Alyssa Grace Jeanfreau, his son Arthur Philip Jeanfreau III and his wife Grace Latino Jeanfreau, along with his grandson Arthur Philip Jeanfreau IV. He also had two extremely special godchildren, Tommy Tillis and Reagan Jeanfreau. Throughout his life, Arthur Jeanfreau, made the most of everyday by making all people around him laugh and be the best people possible. He was extremely active in many activities and organizations during his life. He attended and graduated from Belle Chasse High School, and he has continued to be an active member of the community in Belle Chasse, along with his buddy, Joe Balestra. After graduating from high school, Arthur Jeanfreau served in the United States Air Force by fighting in the Vietnam War. For this reason, he valued the best country in the world and participated in many Veterans Day activities at Belle Chasse High School. As he absolutely loved the city of New Orleans, his favorite time of year was Mardi Gras. Because of his love of Mardi Gras, he was a 10 year member of the Krewe of Endymion. He was even a guest speaker many times in his daughter's classroom in order to teach children about the history and relevance of Mardi Gras in New Orleans. He was also a member of Sigma Tau Gamma, having been initiated in 1997. During his time of membership he participated in many philanthropic activities of the New Orleans alumni chapter and lived the ideals of its creed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate his life at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, July 7, 2015 from 6pm until 9pm and again on Wednesday morning from 11am until 1pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 1:30pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Gretna, Louisiana. Interment will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Our Heros, Our Veterans program at Belle Chasse High School are requested. Contributions may be made in his memory at any Regions Bank.
