Arthur Joel Rackley

Arthur Joel Rackley of Gretna passed away on Friday Nov. 8, 2024, and was the loving husband of Dodie Rackley for 42 years.

He was the awesome Daddio of Connie & Chris Fortmayer, Emily Sibley & Brandon and Elizabeth & Jarod Poe, in addition to his fur-baby Lucy and feathered friend Pikachu. 

He was also the best Grampy to Madalin Abigail & Tracey, Caleb Joel, Wyatt Edward, McKenzie Marlou and Thomas Arthur. 

Survived by his brother, Clarence "Hey Boy” Rackley, niece Amanda & Chris Jacobsen, Henry, brother-in-law "Rotten" Rick Fredericks, sister Martha LeBlanc and extended family & dear friends. Proceeded in death by his caring mother, Marlou Bays and father, Robert Rackley. 

Art loved being surrounded by his adoring family, catching as many Mardi Gras parades as possible and sharing the Christmas spirit as Santa's #1 helper. 

He never met a stranger and made many lifelong friends working in the marine and river pilot industries. 

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sat. Nov 16, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will start at 11am and his memorial service will be at 1pm. A celebration of Art's life will follow in the church hall next-door. Trinity Lutheran Church, 629 Eliza St, New Orleans LA.
