Audrey Ann Johnson passed away on July 3, 2012 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in Jefferson, LA at the age of 84 years. She was a lifelong resident of Empire, LA until Hurricane Katrina, resided in Belle Chasse, LA and then moved to the Ville Ste. Marie Apartments in Jefferson, LA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Johnson and Rosina Lingoni Johnson Bowers and her sister, Dorothy Johnson. Survivors include her nephew, Larry Johnson and his wife Sandra of Carencro, LA; niece, Myrna Johnson Buras and her husband Robert “Bob” of Covington, LA; great-nephews, Avery Buras and Johnny Johnson; great-nieces, Cherie Johnson Hebert, Jill Johnson and Carla Buras Miley and eleven great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was a retired clerk with the U.S. Postal Service in Empire, LA and a devoted member of St. Ann Catholic Church and Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She later became a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Belle Chasse where she made many new friends and was active in helping with various Church activities. She was not only devoted to her Church, but to her community and was always willing to lend a hand wherever needed.
She was also very devoted to her family. She never forgot a special occasion and attended most. She was a loyal friend. She had many longtime friends and made many new friends wherever she went. She was loved by all. Her dearest friend was her first cousin, Mary Lou Pennison, who she loved like a sister.
The family wished to thank Bob Buras and Myrna for the loving care that they gave to her during her illness.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 8968 Highway 23 in Belle Chasse on Saturday, July 7, 2012 from 10 AM to 12 Noon. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Nairn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church, c/o St. Patrick Catholic Church, 28698 Highway 23, Port Sulphur, LA 70083.
