Audrey Cognevich Thompson

November 4, 1927 — August 1, 2014

Audrey Cognevich Thompson passed away on August 1, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Beloved wife of the late Phillip E. Thompson Sr., loving mother of Phillip E. Thompson Jr, (Dolores), Charles T. Thompson (Sandra), Cynthia Thompson Duet (Gerald), Robin Thompson Lee (Brian), and Patrick N. Thompson (Elsa). Grandmother of Christopher, Casey, Ashley, Brian Jr., Corinne, Patrick and Audrey. Great Grandmother of Chandler, Jacob, Rhett, and Drake. Sister of the late Marion Holmes and Ernest Cognevich Jr. She is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
Audrey was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, American Legion Post 218 Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. She served at the former St. Julian Eymard Church as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Bereavement Committee, and as a Music Minister. She served with the Vigil Mass Music Ministry for Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church when St. Julian Eymard was closed. She was a tireless volunteer, donating her time and talents as a scout leader, helping with the bingo at the former Touro-Shakespeare Home, and bringing the Holy Eucharist to patients at the former JoEllen Smith hospital. She loved to be with people and to help anyone who needed assistance.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 400 Verret Street in Algiers Point, LA on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 9 AM TO 11 AM.
