Augustine Breaux

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Augustine “Oogie” Breaux, a cherished lifelong resident of the Westbank of New Orleans. Oogie departed this world on March 30, 2025, in her 84th year, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Born on January 16, 1941, in New Orleans Louisiana, Oogie was a vibrant soul whose spirit touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. With her gentle smile, she brightened countless days and embodied the essence of compassion and care. Her passion for gardening was a reflection of her nurturing nature, as she tended to her plants with the same love and dedication she showed her family and friends.

Oogie leaves behind children Susan Breaux and Jason Brunet, both of whom have been shaped by her unwavering love and support. Her niece, Elizabeth Doucet, also remembers the joyful moments they shared, as her Aunt Oogie was a source of strength and guidance in her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Isabelle Guidry, and her sister, Patricia Doucet, both of whom welcomed her with open arms in the embrace of eternity. Oogie's heart will forever be entwined with that of her godchild, Jody Doucet Macaluso, who carries fond memories of their time together.

A visitation to honor Oogie's life will take place on April 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mothe Funeral Homes, located at 2100 Westbank Expressway,  in Harvey, LA. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. The burial will take place immediately following at Restlawn Park Cemetery, 3540 US-90, Avondale, LA 70094.

As we gather to remember and celebrate the beautiful life of Augustine Breaux, we honor her spirit, her dedication to family, and the love she generously shared, which will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Rest in peace, dear Oogie. You will be profoundly missed.
