Barbara Mitchell Afis passed away on April 8, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Naim T. Afis. Mother of Fieldon “Todd” Edwards, Allison “Nicole” A. Morrison (John), and Roxanne Afis. Grandmother of Sage Belle and Alexis Rain Ducoing. Daughter of the late Sadie Hinson Mitchell and Fieldon Harold “Shine” Mitchell. Sister of Gayle M. O’Neal. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dear friend of Janice Tomlinson and the late Patricia Ann Johnson. Age 69 years, a native of Montpelier, LA and resident of Gretna, LA for the last 40 years. Attended Southeastern Louisana University and achieved a Bachelor of Science in Education and a member of Xi Beta Kappa Sorority. She was an Avon representative for over 30 years. Girl scout troop leader for 10 years in the Gretna area. Member of Oak Park Baptist Church of Algiers, LA.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 6 PM until 9 PM. Visitation will resume at Montpelier First Baptist Church, St. Helena Ave., Montpelier, LA on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 9:30 AM until service time at 11 AM.
