Barbara Gougisha Patin

Patin, Barbara Marian Gougisha Barbara M. Patin was received into the light of the Lord on January 11, 2012 at the age of 75 surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on November 5, 1936 to Octave Gougisha and Marguerite Roche, she was a life long resident and native of Gretna, LA. She worked as a plant manager for the Jefferson Parish School Board until she retired. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by four sons and daughters in-law: Elmore J. Patin Jr. (Eileen), Douglas J. Patin (Carol), David J. Patin (Cetura), Randy A. Patin Sr. (Monica) and two daughters and sons in-law: Bernadette T. Broussard (Lance Sr.) and Evangeline M. Coleman (Moses). In addition, she leaves behind a brother George Gougisha (Mabel), and sisters Shirley Peters, Pearl Adams, and Jacqueline Simmon (Robert) with whom she loved to play pokino and pitty pat. She also leaves behind grand children Monique and Rachel Patin, Brandt, Ashleigh, and Elise Patin, Corey Narine, David Jr., Daisha and Blake Patin, Daishawn, Kristeena, and Chauntel Phillips, Randy Jr. and Mariah Patin and great grandchildren Gregory and Kamron Magee, Terrell and Kylin Lee and Ali and Aaliyah Pipkin and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Elmore J. Patin Sr., her father and mother Octave and Marguerite Gougisha, and brothers Merlin, Junius, Leroy and Lloyd Gougisha. Her gentle and thoughtful spirit will be dearly missed. She was a longtime member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Mothe Funeral Homes in Harvey, La. Visitation is at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Gretna on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 10 am to 11 am followed by Mass and dismissal at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Algiers. Repast to follow.
