Barbara Blanchard Salvato peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of Lawrence J. Salvato, Sr. Daughter of the late Adam J. Blanchard and Rose D. Blanchard. Mother of Joseph L. Salvato (Opal), Mary E. Lynch (Gene), Sharon A. Salvato, John A. Salvato (Robin) and Lawrence J. Salvato, Jr. (Lisa). Grandmother of Danielle Daigle, Shannon Coleman, Chrissy Yandell, Sabrina Lee, Nicole Munoz and the late Tasha Lee. Great Grandmother of Tyler, Samantha, Nathan, Chloe, Cameron, Breeanna, Layla, Christopher, Joshua, Jace, Braelyn, Torey, Cierra and Kenslee. Great Great Grandmother of Kamden. Sister of Lelia B. Matulich (the late Kent), Evelyn B. Scivicque (Carl), Adam J. Blanchard, Jr. (Ada) and the late Oliver “Popeye” Blanchard (survived by Gloria). Barbara is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Barbara was a native of Algiers, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. She was one of New Orleans’ greatest cooks and she was the author of 2 cookbooks, “Berry Good Recipes” and “New Orleans Cooking”. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 6PM until 12 Midnight. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 8AM until 11AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11AM. Interment will be in McDonoghville Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
