Barbara T. Savoie

September 21, 1946 — July 6, 2023

            Barbara Savoie, 76, of Harvey, Louisiana, peacefully passed away on July 6th at her home after a short battle with Leukemia .

            Barbara was a lifelong resident of the West Bank.  She was born on September 21, 1946 to Anna Lee Lemoine and Glen Thibodeaux Sr. She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1964.  Barbara started her professional career at the Jefferson Parrish School Board. After a short while, she moved to  Bethlehem Steel as an executive assistant and worked her way to an inside sales position which then led to a fulfilling career as a sales associate. Eventually she started her own company, Emerald Tubulars, which she successfully ran for many years. 

            Barbara had many talents and hobbies. She loved tending to her garden and decorating her house. She enjoyed travel, which included frequent trips to Houston to visit her son and his family. Barbara was known as a fantastic cook and she she frequently put this talent to use by entertaining at her home. Barbara was loved by many during her lifetime and she will be missed by many more. 

             Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Anna Lee Lemoine and Glen Thibodeaux Sr. as well as her brother Glen Thibodeaux Jr., her son Dwayne Caramonta and her Godchild Denim Thibodeaux.  She is survived by her brother Donald Thibodeaux, his wife Wendy, their son Destin Thibodeaux and his wife Crystal, Alexis Louarpe, and Donald and Wendy’s three grandchildren Camden, Casey and Ciera Thibodeaux. She is also survived by her son Darrin Caramonta, his wife Sheila and their daughter Callista.  Barbara is also survived by her longtime companion Robert Barrios, his daughter Michelle Nawaz and his granddaughter Sophia Nawaz.

             The family would like to extend a very Special Thank You to Pauline Morgan and to Meme Cardec and her team for their love and support they provided to Barbara and also to her family during her illness.

 

              In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

 

              Friends and Family are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 10AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 610 6th St. Gretna, LA. Visitation will begin at 9AM. Interment will follow immediatly at Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna, LA.
