Bartol John Taliancich Sr. passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 with his family by his side. He is survived by Judy Victoriano Taliancich, his devoted wife of 46 years. Loving father of Jeffery Taliancich (Paula), Connie DiCarlo (Don), Denise Champagne (Brian), John Taliancich Jr. (Bonnie) and Judy Madere (Chad). Proud grandfather of Gabrielle, Isabella, Olivia, Dru, Blake, Zachary, Kaleb, Landin, Mia, Myles, Alexys, Makayla, Alexandra and Meaghan, Beth and Holly. Great grandfather of Nathan, Sophia and Gabriel. Sisters, Rosary Skousen and Elizabeth Solomon. Preceded in death by his parents Leopold Taliancich and Louise Marie Barthel, his brothers Leopold Barisa Taliancich, Bozo Steve Taliancich, Marion Peter Taliancich and his sisters Catherine and Marie Taliancich. Brother-in-law of Sherry and Lloyd Pizani and a host of nieces and nephews.
Born in New Orleans and life-long resident of Plaquemines Parish. He and his late brothers founded Taliancich Oyster and Orange Company and John’s Towing Service. Elected to the Plaquemines Parish Council District 7 for two terms from 1994-2002. He represented the Empire area and was a vocal proponent of commercial fisherman by aggressively advocating boat harbor and ship yard improvements. He actively engaged politicians in Baton Rouge and Washington D.C as an advocate of the seafood and citrus industry as well as coastal restoration efforts. He was a member of various organizations which included Secretary of Louisiana Oyster Dealers Association (1993), Plaquemines Parish Soil and Water Conservation (1987-2012), Louisiana State Market Commission, Board Member and Perpetual Member of the Port Sulphur Volunteer Fire Department, Knights of Columbus Council 4033, Buras Rotary Club, Louisiana Oyster Festival King and parishioner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Port Sulphur. He loved his life and cherished his family. He had a big heart and witty sense of humor. His smile was infectious and his generosity was boundless. He was loved by everyone who knew him.

On Monday October 1, 2012, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Port Sulphur, LA there will be a visitation from 9AM to 11AM followed by Funeral Mass.
