Bernard John “Butch” Hatch, Jr., beloved husband of Nancy Ray Hatch, passed away of natural causes on October 1, 2015 at the age of 68 in his home in Harvey. Butch was born on November 3, 1946 in Plaquemine, La. to Mary Rita Cardinal Hatch and Bernard “Bernie” Hatch, Sr. Butch was a distinguished military student and distinguished military graduate from McNeese State College where he played football, began a career in law enforcement, and met the love of his life, Nancy Ray. Butch earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and PE and Master of Education from McNeese State College. Butch was a retired Chief Deputy from Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office. More recently, he worked for the Sunbelt Athletic Conference and was a Charter Member of the New Orleans Bowl. Butch also coordinated the New Orleans Bowl Youth Football camp. Butch is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Ray Hatch, as well as his four children: Bernard John Hatch, III (Nicole), Renee Hatch Aguilar (Alex “Ike”), Brian James Hatch (Elizabeth), and Abby Hatch Huffman (Philip). “Big Butch” is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored: Ariel Aguilar, Starla Aguilar, Nathan Hatch, Zack Hatch, Max Hatch, and Claire Hatch. Butch is also survived by his brother Michael Patrick Hatch, Sr. (Barbara Hatch) and their two children, nephew, Michael Patrick Hatch, Jr. and, niece, Danielle Hatch. Butch was preceded in death by his parents Mary Rita Cardinal Hatch and Bernard John Hatch, Sr. as well as by his grandchild Alex Anthony Aguilar, IV whom Big Butch affectionately called “Baby Ike.” Visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey on Friday October 2, 2015 from 6pm-10pm. Visitiation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 9am until 11am. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Sal Galvez in the Chapel of at Mothe Funeral Home on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11am. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
