Bernice Doucet Hargis passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Anthony B. Hargis, Sr. Daughter of the late Firmin Doucet and Laura Cantrelle Doucet. Mother of Anthony “Boo” Hargis, Jr., Gary “Gee” Hargis, Sr., Darnell Hargis Tierney and Lauren Hargis Gegenheimer. Mother in law of Penny Quenell Hargis and Carl Anthony Gegenheimer,Sr. Grandmother of Tony, Connie Lynn, Grace, Drew Hargis, Gary S. Hargis, Jr., Jessica Tierney, Carl, Jr., Ben and Luke Gegenheimer. Great Grandmother of Elijah, Isaiah and Noah Cheffer, Austin, Peyton, Ben, Jr., Wil and Max, Gegenheimer and Mollie Kay. Great Great Grandmother of Madison and Clayton. Sister of Velma Duplechin, Richard Doucet, Randolph Doucet, and the late Freeman Doucet, Sr., Francis Doucet, Ernest Doucet, Bertha Lewis, Thelma Matherne and Laura Mae Doucet. Sister in law of Loyce Hebert, Glenda and Sylvia Doucet. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Bernice was born Lockport, LA, raised in Westwego and Marrero, LA and resided in Algiers, LA for the past 71 years. Relatives and friends of the family, also Staff and residents of Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare Center, members of American Legion Post 218 and Auxiliary, Parishioners of Holy of Name of Mary Church, 40&8&8&40 Jefferson Salon #535, a time to dance studio, Scissors Hair Studio are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 6PM until Midnight. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 9AM until 12:30PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Eliza Street, Algiers, LA on Thursday at 1PM. Interment will be in McDonoghville Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
