Bettie Joann Powell

Bettie Jo Ann Blackledge Penalber Norton Powell born December 24, 1939 passed away on April 4, 2012. She was a native of Searcy, Arkansas and a resident of New Orleans, LA. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 32 years, Kenneth Wayne Powell, daughter and son in law, Phyllis and Elvin (Pete) Watts, son and daughter in law, Andrew and Marilyn Penalber, son Shannon (Gator) Penalber, daughter and partner, Mary Kurtz and Cate Ferretti, daughter Lisa Norton, and son, Van Norton, Jr. She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, Aaron Penalber and wife, Kerri, Patrick Watts and wife Cari, Matthew Watts and wife, Mickey, Michael Watts, Amie Walgrave and husband Dave, Mandie Penalber, Jessica Penalber, Carrie Kurtz, Joellen Kurtz, Shelby Norton and Casey Steveson; four great grandchildren, Devin Penalber, Brennan Penalber, Carson Walgrave and Savannah Walgrave. Bettie is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She retired from the State of Washington Support Enforcement Services. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie Dolan Blackledge and Aaron Artis Blackledge, husbands, Fellman E. Penalber, and Van Norton, Sr. and infant son, Michael Penalber and sister Lynne Scheib. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a Funeral service in the parlor of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Vallette Street, Algiers, LA on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 6PM.
