Betty S. Castro

Betty S. Castro, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 13,2025, at the age of 85 in Gretna, LA. Born on November 11,1939 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, she was a kind and generous person who touch the lives of many with her outgoing personality, warmth, wisdom and love for Jesus. Betty S. Castro is survived by her loving family, including her children, Margaret Hubert (Howe), Doris Klinner (Rickey), and David Castro (Elizabeth), grandchildren Bridget Waldrep (Beau), Jacob Hubert (Alex), Joshua Hubert (Erica), Gabrielle Lapouble (Jason), Cecilia and Bennett and great grandchildren, Shiloh, Graham, Charlie, and Harley, and brother George T. Short (Lizette). She was predeceased by her devoted husband the late Ramon D. Castro father late Lorenzo D. Short, mother late Virginia Moralas Short, brother late Victor Moralas and late Isabell Knox. Betty S. Castro was an Underwriter and Supervisor for United Fire & Casualty for 40+ years, and found joy cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church, 2401 General De Gaulle, Algiers, La. 70114, at 10:00 am. Visitation will follow until 1:00 pm. Private Family Burial will follow after Visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Hospital.
