She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Anthony Orgeron and Edna Marie Barrios Orgeron and her sister, Marie Barrios Fischtziur. Beloved wife of the late Joel David Holley, Sr. and loving mother of six children, Davy Munsterman, Karen Gunnell (Rod), Kathy Johnson (Tony), Angela Holley, Barrett Holley (Jessi), and the late Joel David Holley, Jr. She was proud of her 17 beautiful grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Betty was born in New Orleans on November 30, 1930. She graduated from Port Sulphur High School and completed her B.A. Education from Northwestern State University. She was a life-long resident of Plaquemines Parish, rearing her children in Port Sulphur then migrating to Belle Chasse, LA. Betty touched the lives of over a thousand Plaquemines Parish students as an elementary teacher. She was a well-respected artist in the community, as well. Her passion for art and teaching gave her the creative outlet that she capitalized upon by producing original art and teaching eager art students how to direct their own talents. Betty was one of the most loved individuals, opening her heart and home to anyone in need. She loved to socialize and be surrounded by her family and friends. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. A very special thanks to Mrs. Gail Johnson and Ms. Naisha Wilson for their friendship and loving care of mother and to Heart of Hospice of Belle Chasse who gave us unwavering support and professional care for mom.
