Beverly Marmillion Scioneaux passed away at the age of 87, on September 2, 2024. Beverly is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Earl J. "Buff" Scioneaux Sr., and her son, Franz J. Scioneaux, she is survived by her daughter, Kathina Scioneaux Kaufman (David B. Kaufman Jr.). A doting grandmother to Devan Kaufman and Kaitin Kaufman Diamond (Dylan Diamond). Beverly in the last two years of her life, would become a great-grandmother to two beautiful girls, Adalyn and Avery Diamond.
One of the kindest, and most compassionate people you'd ever meet; she was a true steel magnolia. Beverly experienced the cancer death of her father in her last year of high school, lost her 41-year-old son, her younger sister and subsequently her husband to cancer as well. She shouldered the losses with strength and grace as she did everything throughout her life.
Beverly, just 4 weeks into recovery from her own Colon cancer surgery, eagerly welcomed her grandchildren, twins, Devan and Kaitlin Kaufman. The consummate care giver, she would remark that helping with the babies (born 7 weeks pre-mature) helped her to recover faster. Beverly would go on to be a 30-year cancer survivor.
The oldest of three children through the late Alphonse "Babe" Marmillion and Clara Belle Bourke Marmillion, she was sister to the late Marleen S. Marmillion and is survived by David A. Marmillion Sr. (Suzann Bourgeois Marmillion), Neice, Ashley Marmillion Munn (Brandon Munn) and Nephew, David A. Marmillion Jr., along with multiple great nieces and nephews.
As an Administrative Assistant, Beverly retired from Avondale Shipyards Harvey Quick Repair and the Avondale "Rock house" after 47 years of employment. A life-long resident of Harvey, La., Beverly was a parishioner and choir member of St. Rosalie Church, from childhood throughout her adult years. Westside Bowling Alley members might remember that she and her husband, "Buffalo" were on bowling teams for many years.
The finest mother, daughter, sister and friend, she was an Angel here on Earth and will be missed more than words can express.
