On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the world lost a beloved soul with the passing of Blake Anthony McDonald at the age of 33. His journey began on November 5, 1990, in Gretna, Louisiana. Blake's legacy extends far beyond the boundaries of time; his impact resonates through the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
From a young age, Blake exhibited a determination that would define his character. He pursued his passions wholeheartedly, earning his black belt in Tang Soo Do at the tender age of nine, under Chris Benoit Martial Arts. A proud graduate of Archbishop Shaw High School, Blake's thirst for knowledge and growth knew no bounds.
Professionally, Blake served as an assistant manager at Jason's Deli in Baton Rouge, LA. Outside of work, Blake found joy in cooking and making others laugh. His witty sense of humor and ability to lift spirits made him a cherished friend to many. A man of immense character and heart, Blake will be remembered for the joy he brought into the world.
Blake's proudest accomplishments were becoming a father to Riley Santiago-McDonald and Scarlett Wall. He cherished every moment spent with his children.
Throughout his life, Blake faced challenges with addiction but also became a pillar of support for fellow recovering addicts. His generous heart knew no bounds as he provided guidance and aid to those seeking sobriety. He had a remarkable ability to make others smile, even during their darkest moments. His humor was a beacon of light for many.
While we mourn the loss of a beloved son, brother, father, nephew, cousin and friend today, we also celebrate a life lived with purpose and unwavering dedication.
Blake leaves behind a legacy of love that will endure through the memories shared by his surviving family including his mother Sandy Anderson (Jim); his father Ralph McDonald; his brothers Bryce and Brennan Anderson; Step-father Ronnie Anderson; his children Riley Santiago-McDonald and Scarlett Wall; grandparents (late) Duffy McDonald, Darlene McDonald (Jared), Nancy Holland, Malcolm Holland (Monica); great grandmother Theresa McDonald; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who held a special place in his heart.
Blake was committed to saving others, in death, as he did in life. During his final days, it was learned that he was a registered organ donor.
