Brian R. Hermann Sr., a lifelong resident of Terrytown, LA, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 64. Beloved husband of 46 years to Patricia Samanie Hermann. Father of Mindy Hermann Sampey and Brian Robert Hermann Jr. (Adriana). Grandfather of Gage Michael Hermann, Giuliana Bella Hermann, and Graham Evan Sampey. Brother of Bonnie Mae Burns (Frank), Cathleen Bergeron (the late John), and the late Eldridge L. Hermann Jr. (Barbara). Brother-in-law of Stephan Samanie (Charlye) and Ronnie Samanie (Allison). Son of the late Bonnie Mae Powell Hermann and Eldridge Leroy Hermann Sr. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He worked as a Sergeant for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (2nd District Patrol) for 15 years and most recently worked for General Mill Supplies.
Brian went by many names, including Sweets, Pops, Dad, Mr Brian, Mr B, Big Perm; but his favorite was Paw-Paw. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his grand babies. Upon retirement, he picked up the job of babysitting his three little buddies and brought them to and from school, almost every day for the past 18 years. It was by far, his favorite occupation with the greatest benefits. He got to spend time with his favorite little people every day. His wife was his absolute soul mate. He wanted to spend every second of every day with her, showering her with love and affection. He was the definition of true love. He loved everyone and always tried to help any way he could. He was a jack of all trades, but unlike the saying he truly was a master of all. He was a home renovator, a car mechanic, a gourmet chef, a chauffeur, a landscaper, political advisor, a mentor, and the list goes on. He could do it all. His most recent venture was making t-shirts and other creative items with the family, which he was so excited about. Spending time with family and countless honorary family was his favorite pastime. Whether it was a pool party around his Tiki bar, a parade, a baseball game, vacation, it didn't matter. He was a proud charter member of the NeauxLa Krewe. He was the life of the party and made sure everyone was having fun. He loved documenting all the events by taking photos and videos of all the goings on and was constantly filling all the storage on his beloved iPhone. He made everyone feel welcome and included whether he knew you for 20 years or 20 minutes. He touched so many lives and was a father figure to whomever needed him. He bled Red, White, and Blue and was a true patriot. He absolutely loved his country. This world has lost an amazing Husband, Father, Paw-Paw, and Friend, but Heaven has gained the most wonderful soul and most protective Guardian Angel. He will never be forgotten by anyone who had the honor to know him.
