Bryan Charles Hymel passed away on September 20, 2016 at the age of 70 years. Beloved husband of 51 years to Diana Naquin Hymel. Father of Angel Guidry (Jim) and Cindy Bourg. Grandfather of Danielle, Melissa, P.J., Austin and Brock. Brother of Joseph Hymel Jr. (Betty), Sylvia Trosclair (Calvin), Bobby Hymel (Marilyn) and Diana Dunlap (Thomas). Son of the late Gladys Madere Hymel and Joseph Hymel. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
Bryan owned and operated Hymel’s Grocery and Market in Bridge City and specialized in Cajun country products like his homemade sausages and hog head cheese. He used his talents learned in the grocery business in the kitchen. Anyone that stopped by the house was privy to his jambalaya or gumbo. He worked for many years as an independent driver with Velocity Express and later, Hackbarth Delivery Service. In his younger years, Bryan served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Bridge City Vol. Fire Department. But besides cooking, watching sports and cheering on Tulane, his true passion was spending time with his family. His heart would warm if he could get you to laugh at one of his jokes and loved to play games with his grandchildren. He never met a stranger and most certainly, you would be richer by sharing his stories, jokes or time spent together. Bryan will be sadly missed but his life will be celebrated.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Avenue A at Fourth Street in Westwego on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 9 AM to 11 AM. Rosary recitation will take place at 9:30 AM and the Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow in the Church mausoleum.
