Calvin E. Gasper, 58 of Gretna, died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at home surrounded by family. He was born March 16, 1957 in New Orleans, the son of Emile and Alma Gasper.
Calvin graduated from West Jefferson High School in Harvey, Louisiana, and from Delgado Community College in New Orleans. On July 11, 1987 he was united in marriage to Sharon White in New Orleans. For over 30 years, Calvin worked as a diesel mechanic at Transdev, formerly known as Veolia Transportation. In his spare time he enjoyed watching sports, reading, and spending time with his family and children.
He is survived by his wife Sharon W. Gasper; three children, Candace, Jonathan, and Raven; two grandchildren Miles and Mason; three sisters, Mary-Ann Gasper of Harvey, Carol Adams of Marrero, and Wanda (Cal B.) Tate of Harvey; and three brothers, Emile Gasper Jr. of Lafayette, Tommie (Carolyn) Gasper of Harvey, and Keith (Rebecca) Gasper of Waggaman and a host of nieces and nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emile and Alma Gasper and a sister Joan Gasper Hollies.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Believers Life Family Church. Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of all funeral arrangements. Visitation will begin on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. for family and at 10:00 a.m. for friends and public. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
