Camille Michael Todaro

June 21, 1928 — May 10, 2014

Camille Michael Todaro, 85, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday May 10, 2014, after a short illness. He was a resident of Belle Chasse, LA. He will be forever missed by his precious and loving wife of 66 years, Ella Grace Williams Todaro, for whom he tirelessly cared for, worshiped and protected. He was a wonderful father and “a shining star” for his three children, Kathy Lavalla (Sam), Russell Todaro (Pam), and Melanie Langteau (Greg) who are so grateful for all the love and guidance he constantly showered on them. He was the loving grandfather of Todd LaValla, Christine Breland, Brandy DiMaggio, Russell Todaro Jr., Olivia Todaro, Michael Langteau, Catherine Langteau, and Daniel Langteau and a devoted great-grandfather to Jason, Nicholas and Matthew Lavalla, Hunter and Drake Breland, Demi, Allison and Dylan DiMaggio, and Anthony Todaro. Camille, who was the Son of the late Rosalino and Frances Todaro, is also survived by his siblings: Claude Todaro, Vincent Todaro and Rosie Cressonie. He is preceded in death by siblings Tony Todaro, Josephine Landry, Lucy Vidonne, Mary LaFonte and Jack Todaro. Camille loved his job as Carman with the Union Pacific Rail Road for 42 years and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Carmen. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. He was also a long time member of the Knights of Columbus Council Number 6357 of Belle Chasse. After retirement, he joined the Belle Chasse AARP and Plaquemines Parish Council on Aging. For 10 years, he planned, organized and directed wonderful bus trips and other activities for the AARP. Also he was so very proud to have assisted his children in the start-up of their businesses. His work ethic was unbelievable. Up until a week before his death, he was so very active arising at three in the morning to begin his day. Each day was devoted to his loving wife but he also found time to touch, care for, worry and protect everyone he could. Most of all he loved his family and friends and was happiest when surrounded by them. He was the center of his family and the life of the party. He was so proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed being involved in their lives. He loved bus trips with his friends and enjoyed over 60 cruises with friends and relatives. He had a long, full and wonderful life and will be forever deeply missed by so many.
