Capt. Tommy Jay Bruce, Sr.

Captain Thomas “Tommy” Jay Bruce, Sr. went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2024. Beloved husband of Belinda Abshire Bruce for 49 years. Father of Ryan Bruce (Christa), Tommy Bruce, Jr. (Kristal), Danielle Bruce (Brad Millsaps), and the late Torrie Rae Bruce and Darnell Bruce. Grandfather of Austin Stallings, Tommy Bruce, III, and Victoria Bruce. Grandson and raised by the late Casmir and Vivian Bruce. Son of the late Eula Mansuy. Brother of Rolly Bruce (Kathy), Mary Lou Ditta, and the late Cheryl Mansuy. Uncle of Stefanie Addison. Also survived by a host of extended family. Age 77 years, a native of Harvey and resident of Gretna, LA. Captain Tommy spent his career as a tugboat captain. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren and especially walking with Jesus as a faithful member of Cornerstone Christian Church, (Pastor Jason Carroll). He enjoyed playing pool in his spare time. 

Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 9 AM until Funeral Service time at 1 PM. Casual attire. Visitation will resume Monday, January 13, 2025 from 9 AM until 11 AM. Interment will follow at McDonoghville Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
