Carl James Cavalier, Sr.

Carl James Cavalier Sr., affectionately known as “Pops”, entered the gates of Heaven on June 29, 2024, at the age of 86 years old. He was born on September 17, 1938, to the late Ulysis Cavalier and Margie Picard Cavalier. Beloved husband of Mary Louise Cavalier (Ferguson) for 69 years. Father of Carl James Cavalier Jr. (wife Mary J. Cavalier), Gregory Shane Cavalier (wife Vanessa Cavalier), Charlie Ray Cavalier, Deborah Marie Cavalier (husband Huey Marcel), and the late Betty Diane Cavalier (Gebbia). Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Brother of J.W. (Jasper) Cavalier, Gene Cavalier, Roger Cavalier, Bobby Torres, and Daryl Torres, Carl is preceded in death by Hayward (Lee) Cavalier, John Cavalier, and sister Karen Cavalier. He was born in Frisco, Louisiana, and has been a resident of Avondale, Louisiana, for many years. He worked as a heavy machinery operator (Cranes) for Local 406. He loved the outdoors and was passionate about hunting, fishing, amateur radio (KK5U), playing guitar, singing, and karaoke. He was a simple man by nature with a heart of gold. He loved his family and was often seen with grandchildren by his side. He loved to joke with a witty sense of humor and a smile that would ease your mind. Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.

A Gathering of family and friends will be held at Mothe Funeral Homes, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, LA on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 9 AM to 1:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Restlawn Park Cemetery in Avondale.
