Carl LeAlen “Sonny” McBride left his temporary home to spend eternity with Jesus on November 19, 2011. Sonny, age 60 years, was a native of Texas and a longtime resident of lower Plaquemines Parish and Belle Chasse, LA. He was a graduate of Delta Heritage Academy and a 2 year student of Northwestern and Southeastern Universities. He was preceded in death by his dad, Edward and brother, “Jimbo” McBride; grandparents, Carl and Edna Rasco and Roy and Lucy McBride; his sweet aunt Brenda Fitzgerald and brother-in-law, Wendell Barrois. He is survived by his loving mother, caretaker and friend, Peggy Rasco McBride and her companion, Tom Case; his sisters, Sissy and her husband Bob White and sister and co-caretaker, Lisa Chalaire. Sonny never married or had children, but he loved and delighted in his nieces and nephews, Stacy, Sunni Le, Jessica, Jamie, Lacie, Justin, Joshua and Lil’ Lonie; also his great-nieces and nephews, Madison, Morgan, Seth and “T” Josh; his uncle, James Ray and aunt Kay Rasco and many dear cousins and friends. Sonny worked as a Captain on the Belle Chasse ferry until his disability set in. His devoted friend and co-worker, Capt. Lee LaFrance was with him until the end and will never be forgotten by Sonny’s family. Sonny was an avid bowler, bowling “300” games many times and bowling with the travel league for many years. He also loved golfing, playing Canasta with family and watching football, basketball and many other sports on TV. He was loved and will always be missed. Family, friends, members of Belle Chasse Baptist Church, Plaquemines Parish Ferry and Government are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, L.L.C., 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011 from 5 PM to 9 PM, resuming on Friday from 9 AM to 11 AM. Services will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday for 1 PM at Greenwood Cemetery in Pineville, LA.
