Catherine Julia Soutullo

Catherine Julia Soutullo, our beloved sister, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the age of 78. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Anthony and Gloria Myrle Soutullo of Gretna, Louisiana, brother Stephen, and beloved niece, Amanda Gloria O'Neill Pesson. She is the beloved sister of Joseph (Marde), Peter, Don (Elsie), Kenneth (Sharon), Annette and Yvette. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Benjamin, Stephanie, Jody, Peter, Olivia, Isabella, Ashleigh, Graham, Haley, Madelyn, Claire, Blaize, Bowen, Ayden, Roman and Aria; other family and numerous friends. Catherine was born on October 14, 1944 in Brisbane, Australia. At a young age she traveled with her mother by ocean liner and train from Australia to Mobile, Alabama, to reunite with her father after World War II. The family later moved to Gretna, Louisiana. Catherine earned her degree in Education at the University of New Orleans and after teaching English Literature at L.W. Higgins High School for some years, she then decided to return to school at Loyola University to study law. Catherine earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola and began a Civil Law practice in Gretna shortly thereafter; beginning what would be a long career of selfless service, helping others in their time of need.

Over the next four decades Catherine worked as a successful and respected attorney, helping innumerable individuals and families with a wide variety of legal issues. In her career and in her life Catherine was always known for her integrity and for being generous with her time and her advice. Catherine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Monday, September 25, 2023 at 1:30 PM. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until service time.
