Catherine Tully was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. On Friday, July 28, 2023, at age 84, she fully entered into the presence of the Lord with her family by her side. While she will be immeasurably missed, we are grateful that she is again and forevermore in the arms of her beloved husband of 62 years, who passed in 2021.
She was the daughter of the late Leo May, Lillian, and Martin Gutierrez. Catherine is survived by her beloved children Michael T. Tully, Sr., Toni Weimer, her "favorite son-in-law" Carmen Weimer, the late Melroy G., and Tracey Tully. Grandchildren Angelina Tully, Brenden and Zachary Weimer, Selena Edwards (Mason), and Mason Tully. Great grandchildren Julian Tully and Evelyn Maggio. Numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends also survive Catherine.
Born January 27, 1939, on Tchoupitoulas Street, Catherine grew up in the heart of New Orleans, where she met her darling husband, Melroy. They resided in Marrero, Louisiana, where she raised their four wonderful children. Catherine lived a life of immense sacrifice and, in her later years, reared not only her granddaughter but also her two great-grandchildren. She was the caregiver to many and modeled love and protection, transcending the boundaries of space and time. Catherine thoroughly enjoyed being a busybody and completing her daily homemaking chores like yard work and painting the exterior of her home with only a brush in hand. Her favorite pastimes were Sunday card games with her family and Pokeno games with the girls.
God used such a beautiful and strong-hearted woman to set forth what resilience and perseverance truly look like. Catherine was the bedrock in many lives and will be irrevocably missed by her family, friends, and devoted dog Sissy who never left her side. Graveside services will be held at Restlawn Park Cemetery, Highway 90, Avondale, LA on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 11AM. MOTHE FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family during this difficult time.
