Charles R. Babin, Sr.

Charles R. Babin, Sr., age 86, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012. Mr. Babin was a native of White Castle, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Beloved husband of Shirley S. Babin for 62 years. Father of David W. Babin (fiancé, Lisa Hemmenway), Suzanne B. Lorio (Harry J.) and the late Charles R. Babin, Jr. Grandfather of Bradley C. Lorio and Samantha M. Lorio. Brother of Nell B. Hubert and the late Aline B. Tapie. Son of the late Raymond C. Babin and Yolande L. Babin. Also survived by close friend of the family Marvin J. Lowe, nieces and nephews. Mr. Babin was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
He was a lifelong employee, until retirement from Jefferson Music Company. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was self-taught in the artistry of woodworking, crafting many items for himself and family. He found the time to work full time and build his home of 50 plus years. He later added an apartment over the garage for his sons. Whatever he didn't know how to do, he taught himself.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, June 23.2012 from 9:00 AM until 11 AM.
