Charles Balka passed away on December 5, 2013 at the age of 81 years. Beloved husband of the late Ruby LeBlanc Balka. Father of Catherine Amar (husband Frank) and Cynthia Munroe (husband Jerry). Grandfather of Troyann Narvaez (husband Albert), Mylene Flores (husband Ross), Frank Amar (wife Tracy) and Dondi Soza (husband Armando). Also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Charles was born in Hungary and lived in Gretna, LA since 1958. He was a Freedom Fighter during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. He later retired as a pile driver for the Carpenter’s Union Local No. 1846.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 7 AM to 9 AM.
